Even though Canada is a freezing arctic wasteland that seems to offer a poor QOL I think Canada has a lot to lose by joining with the U.S. They'd inevitably absorb parts of our horrible politics and massive debt.

Absolutely. We are importing tons of people every year. Natural resources out the ass. Educated, healthy, tons of room to grow, a stable, relatively sane government, etc. We have 30 million people and are the worlds eleventh biggest economy. We are getting more comfortable asserting ourselves internationally.

I believe that separating Canada's accomplishment from the US (going either direction) is not going to accurately reflect either's properly. Kind of like focusing JUST on Germany, to the exclusion of the EU.
