So I point out to you that there is plenty of discussion of government corruption in the news.

I respond that it's embarrassing you even mentioned that in this debate.

You still haven't really addressed the fact that government corruption is a highly popular issue in the media (and no I don't mean on reality contests or sitcoms. I'm talking about news oriented programming). Anti politician is always a safe way to appease your audience. The "they're all crooks" angle is populism at its essence. Of course they peddle that.
