So I point out to you that there is plenty of discussion of government corruption in the news.

You respond "not on this popular singing contest reality show!"

I respond that it's embarrassing you even mentioned that in this debate.

You get pissed at me.

You still haven't really addressed the fact that government corruption is a highly popular issue in the media (and no I don't mean on reality contests or sitcoms. I'm talking about news oriented programming). Anti politician is always a safe way to appease your audience. The "they're all crooks" angle is populism at its essence. Of course they peddle that.

Watch the news bro. Bush took us to war over WMD's that didn't exist. Chris Christie shut down a bridge for political revenge. The health insurance industry hand wrote the ACA. The IRS targeted groups based on politic affiliation. It all gets discussed. You think discussing it more would result in indictments but it wouldn't which is why it eventually stops getting talked about. You can't just keep reporting "and in others news, the government corruption we reported on 3 months ago has not been undone by time travelers as of this hour" so when there's no indictment to discuss it becomes old news and stops getting talked about eventually.

And there are plenty of media outlets that do keep reporting it. It's just that nobody cares.

Nobody cares Indy. Blame the media all you want but they're just providers. The consumers are the issue.

Indy, every channel talked about there being no WMDs for months on end. See the 04 election. Do you think it's still headline news 10 years later each day that still haven't found any. Everyone has accepted we're never going to find them and they don't exist. It's no longer news.
