I think acts of violence during the Vietnam war ie. the Weather Underground bombings were legitimate. Of course that was a bit different than a petty dispute over grazing rights, that was an unjust war that claimed the lives of 60k americans (some who were drafted and forced to be there) 400k+ north Vietnamese and and 65k vietnamese civilians.
