I didn't like my school, that is true. Of course that isn't why I dropped out. I dropped out because I didn't want to be $75000 in debt with very little chance of getting the sort of job that'd allow me to pay it back comfortably. I was also influenced by the fact that many of the most successful people don't have college degrees.

I have zero sympathy for those who make decisions because mom and dad told them so. What do you want? The government to hold your hand through this process? You want mom and dad to peer ten years in the future and see the crash of 2008? How is this anyone's fault but those who decided to not only sign up, but to continue signing up, even as the writing on the wall grew more and more colorful, large and italicized?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: "hive mind" is not an excuse. You picked your school. You picked your courses. You picked your apartment, your cell phone, your expenses, everything. None of it was forced on anyone.

What it comes down to is that you want to hold the Boomers responsible for giving bad advice, while totally abdicating your own responsibility for taking it... On the grounds that you were part of a "hive mind," as if that is anyone's fault but your own. Perhaps you guys think that the government should start telling kids to not go to college? Maybe we should create tax incentives for non-graduates? After all, your decisions aren't really your decisions. Perhaps it would be better if you guys had zero debt and worked a minimum wage job throughout your 20s. That'll sure improve your future outcomes.
