People just need to stop catching feelings. I am not going to go as far as to say that being an atheist in the workplace is as hard as being gay, but I have taken my fair share of bullshit for it. I triumphed because I didn't catch feelings and decided to give my coworkers who gave me shit a favor they didn't return to me; I respected their difference of opinion. I remember once when I was in the Army, my dining facility manager made me pass out flyers promoting the dining hall's upcoming Easter brunch around the base where we were stationed. The flyers not only promoted a holiday from a religion I did not support, it also had on it a photo of a white Anglo-saxon protestant family of four holding hands in prayer over dinner. I also knew they only reason he made me do it is because I was an atheist, something he found out when he and I had a discussion about religion. He even called me a fool during that convo since according to him faithless people can't have morals or a purpose. Good thing I am also a nihilist, so who needs a purpose in life? Anyways, did I catch feelings because he specifically made me pass these damn flyers out based on my lack of religion? Nope. I took the flyers and promoted the shit out of that f*cking brunch. I also didn't campaign for dude to lose his job even though his actions could def be seen as attempting to create hostility towards me. People need to get over it. Expecting everyone at your workplace to have the same opinions as you or even popular opinions is a pipe dream. Live and let live. I have enough similar stories like this one to make a book series. So many Christians are out there praying for my Godless existence that I'll never have to concern myself with my own well being.

They don't have to have the same opinion. For the vast majority of people, they'll never have to worry about this. Because most people just don't matter the same way Mozilla dude mattered.

It becomes different when you are the leader of a global company, and you are supporting the legal oppression of homosexuals, as well as candidates that call homosexuals pedophiles and say gay groups should be thrashed.

I have no idea why you are ignoring these very simple points and instead resorting to the most juvenile position anyone could take here: "People just need to stop catching feelings," as if deliberately oppressing other people is no big thing.

He is the CEO of a global company. He did matter. Other companies, Mozilla contractors and clients all expressed concern. A campaign to boycott Mozilla, already getting crushed by Chrome, took off almost immediately. I don't even need to talk about feelings to show why your opinion is silly and antiquated. Business reality suffices.

Marriage isn't a right. It is a civil service. One that is being denied to homosexuals in many states. That is legal inequality and it is absolutely unacceptable.

I don't need to compare Sterling and Eich. Why does such a comparison matter? It doesn't.

Why are you taking about Sterling? Why are you comparing the two? Why does this comparison matter? Yes, Sterling is worse. So what? How does this address my points?

No, it is their problem. When you have major websites, activist groups, employees, users and contractors participating in a boycott, that is the definition of a companies problem.

Just lol, do you have any PR sense at ALL? Eich literally insisted on resigning because it impacted his ability to lead so much. Mozilla didn't even ask or pressure him too.

And yes... Marriage is a civil service...

About to head to bed so I can maybe enjoy my day off this week.....

Please, if you can, show me anything Brendan Eich did whilst at Mozilla, not just as CEO, other than his donation in support of prop 8 that hurt his homosexual employees in any way. I do not care how big or small. It could be him refusing to use urinals next to gay male employees when in the bathroom. I do not care. This man practically created Mozilla and was forced resigned and removed from a company he helped build because he supported a political cause....and don't think the stigma from this won't follow him. Damn shame.
