The reason anybody from the Apple camp is even talking about benchmarks is because that's what Android users continually tout as being some sort of factor. Now when an Apple device has good benchmarks it's all "nah that doesn't matter".
Well, it doesn't matter, either way. What matters is the function of the operating system, and iOS is clearly superior in the utilization of the hardware. My iPhone is just as snappy as when I first got it, and just as snappy as my friends brand new Galaxy S3, despite inferior hardware.
