It is interesting to me that we really haven't progressed all that much since our abuse of this continent's native peoples.
Yes, we don't execute teenagers anymore:

but we do choke them to death for no good reason:

we do still massacre villages of brown people though:

however the outrage over SandCreek was much greater than over our on-going drone program.
I dunno. Maybe we're not as progressed as we believe.
