The snark isn't the problem. I can take snark.

The problem is the trolling and his obvious blatant disregard for having an honest discussion. You want to ask for data to prove something? Very reasonable request. You want to say that you disagree with that data? Very reasonable or at the very least, within your rights.

But thats not what was happening here. What was happening is instead of him being honest and looking at the info provided, he sits and nitpicks every little possible detail without ever looking himself, starting with ridiculous questions regarding what the material is even about. Had he even bothered to look at either link, he would have had most of his questions immediately answered. He never intended to look at any of the data. Its trolling, flat out. Its not a difference of opinion when you are purposefully wasting someone's time with absolutely no intent of having an honest discussion, yet making it seem like you are willing to look.

Him: Well is this study even about <insert random thing here> ?
Me: Link isn't a study, its 1700 studies broken down
Him: DID YOU EVEN READ ALL 1700 STUDIES!?!?
Me: Uh, no, never said I did. The link is a study of those 1700 studies and they draw conclusions based on all the studies. I am going off their conclusion
Him: How can you even know what its about if you don't read all 1700 studies!!?
Me: ...

And on and on. Its clear that he has absolutely no interest in honest discussion. Thus he's trolling. Thus suspension.

That is a completely valid point though.

A meta-analysis can only be valid if at least a majority of the studies it analyzes are also valid. Further, the link you provided isn't even really a meta-analysis - all that summary does is classify those studies by what they looked at, and report their findings, without ever actually analyzing the data or the methodologies. The summary itself admits that almost all of these studies were not peer-reviewed and were not available to the public... so I can see why Comrade was demanding what he was.

I've pointed out something similar before.

By-and-large, most of the people here will identify a problem and try to present some solution. Doing that obviously invites people to shoot holes in it. But, then you defend, and we have a debate.

Com rarely ever puts forth any solutions. It's always shooting everyone else down. I specifically remember (back when I used to reply to his posts) that I pointed this out. His response was that him always shooting holes in everyone else's solutions was a perfectly valid stance to take. It was back in the "Why can't millennials find jobs" thread, circa November 2013.

I fully respect ueber's decision and I haven't seen the thread, but I will make this one appeal: assuming you don't have prior beef w him, unlike pretty much every other troll, com is hilarious. I've laughed at more of his one liners than any other poster's. by that alone I think leniency should be considered.
