Here in the UK the ukip win is nowhere near as staggering as everyone is making out. Turnout was only 34% which means ukip got roughly 9% of the electorate voting for them in an election that they've always tended to have done well in anyway. Their % of the popular vote in local elections has actually gone down.

Yea people are a bit annoyed over Europe but the general feeling here is nobody really cares that much. Come the general elections ukip's policies (anti maternity leave, privisation of the NHS etc) are gonna see them get battered in an election they never do particularly well in anyway due to FPTP.

The FN winning in France is more troubling as they also tend to do reasonably well in national elections.

Absolutely delighted to see the BNP lose any representation.

All these parties are one man bands. Where would UKIP be without Farange? What is FN without the Le Pens? PVV without de wilders? The fact that they have such strong and charismatic leaders, and THIS is the best they can do, shows how defunct their actual ideas are.

Why I like Marie le Pen

Anti immigration:
Why would France, a country with high unemployment, lots of social services and western liberal cultural want a bunch of uneducated, poor, predominately Muslim, immigrants? France and Europe in general need more immigrants like Africa needs more AIDs.

Supports a middle of the road protectionism:
Allowing for moderate tariffs to protect local industries and maintain jobs within France

Regulation of the financial sector:
Regulation and possible nationalization of parts of the financial sector to lower borrowing costs for France, prevent bubbles, and providing more revenue for the French gov

Lowering corporate tax rate:
Lowering the corporate tax rate to drive growth with special preferences to profit sharing business models like collectives
