also the vast majority of "sociopaths" are not criminal, but people you probably admire.

You know, driven, ambitious go-getters. People who lack empathy for individuals and are therefore willing to forgo their interests for the greater good of society happen to readily reach leadership positions. This is who causes the greater share of social damage.

Street criminals are generally people who just don't know any better because they have had a limited upbringing. Give them a chance to actualize and they probably wouldn't choose crime.

Human behavior is a system, individuals do not fully understand their environment, nor are they fully cognizant of why they behave the way they do. So punishment is singularly useless. You are just mistreating them even more than they have already been mistreated. It just makes them more resentful of the mindless system that keeps f**k them over and keeps them from having the privileges they see others enjoy. It's small wonder that the US recidivism rate is what it is.

The solution to the question of "justice" is to build a better environment. Not a shittier one.
