How does one align profit and health care motives? Health care is about ensuring fat smokers with hereditary diseases continue to live. The only way to profit off that is to charge more than what you pay. The only way to make that sustainable is to have downward pressure on costs. Thing is, there is no downward pressure without either insurance companies or government making it so. Insurers only make money by charging more than what they pay to a sufficiently large number of people. So once again, the profit motive and the health care motive are opposed to one another.
