The Dodger BP blew a couple of those games. Orel never got tagged with a loss. In his game 4 save he got out of a bases loaded jam that saved the game for the dodgers, and his game 7 win was on 3 days rest.. In the 1988 WS Hershiser pitched and won 2 complete games, his ERA was 1.. In 18 innings the A's never got an extra base hit off of him..Like I said the A's couldn't touch him either.

You don't get much better than that. No one does it all by themselves, but the Dodgers don't get to the WS without him, let alone win it..

His hot pitching only accounted for 1 of the 4 wins they needed at advance. And it came in a game where an average outing could have won it for them anyway. His performance was excellent and he deserves the MVP but you could have put another decent pitcher in those 3 games that he started and the dodgers still probably win.

I guess those who voted Hershiser as NLCS and WS MVP that year were wrong..

He deserves the MVP because it isn't his fault that the bullpen dropped the lead he had going in his first two starts but that still doesn't mean they rode his hot pitching to the pennant win.
