In general, and this falls under that umbrella this time, I'm against allowing law enforcement from a distance. I don't like traffic cameras, red light cameras, or drones.
I don't mind using remote devices for monitoring. Put up cameras on the highways all you want. Use them to identify traffic wrecks, track criminals fleeing from a crime, or whatever. But, the tickets should be written by a person.
Same with crowd enforcement. There are so many nuances in crowd control that simply cannot be perceived by a drone. There needs to be boots on the ground to deal with criminals like this. Or, if it's deemed too dangerous and drones HAVE to be used (bomb disposal, extremely violent protests, etc.), then the controllers should be in close proximity to the threat.
