Yeah it's a wonder anyone can build anything outside of the US. You do realize that cutting your wood planks or carpets in metric units at production gives you the exact same advantages? That statement makes as much sense for construction as any other engineering or scientific endeavour. How ever do those poor scientists measure a third of a gram or a third of a millilitter.
In the end the metric system is clearly superior because it is actually a system and not a collection of arbitrary terms people got used to over the years. How many cubic inches is a gallon? How much does a gallon of water weight in lbs when it has its highest density(40 °F)?
One liter is 1000 cm^3 and a liter of water weights about 1 kg. Makes shit easy. I pity American engineers with their cripple units. Metric system masterrace.

What is mind-boggling is how incredibly unskilled batting is when compared to most other skills in most other sports. Sure, I have no doubt that a pitcher could strike me out. At least I would hope they would, considering they are supposed to be the best. But it is far less difficult than being able to kick a soccer ball within inches of your teammates head, curving it accurately, a hundred feet away. It is far less difficult than being able to slap a puck at 100 MPH while skating backwards and avoiding some goon from crushing you.

The only person in baseball whose skill is anywhere close to an average player in any of the other three sports I've mentioned is the pitcher. That's it. The rest of it can and is done by people whose conditioning is about the same as your average active adult, who maybe works out a couple times a week and maybe watches what they eat sometimes.

In fact, it is probably the only sport that can be played pretty well just by hiring the worst guys with the best luck, ala Moneyball.
