Been a while since I've posted on this forum. With regards to the term football vs soccer, perhaps I'm pointing out the obvious but the term football is generally applied to the ball kicking sport that is most dominant in the reference country. In England, Europe and South America football means soccer because it is the dominant ball kicking sport. In the USA football means grid iron (American Football). In Australia, football in New South Wales and Queensland refers to rugby league whereas in the rest of Australia football means Australian Rules Football (AFL) and finally In New Zealand football refers to rugby union.
As for Ann Coulter's comments regarding soccer, all I can say is thank goodness for Rupert Murdoch and New's Corporation. Who would have thought that a news organisation whose sole purpose is to push the conservative cause would end up being the weapon of their own undoing. Come to think of it though, giving stupid people a microphone will always end badly.
