Dharma, you literally just claimed that achaeologists study the fossil record and have some say in the study of evolution.
Sorry man, but you simply don't know what you're talking about. Why is it so important to you to present sociologists trying to decide why people do they crazy things they do as being on the same empirical level as a physicist explaining angular momentum?
That is WHY the world of academics has created a distinction between the hard sciences and social sciences. One isn't better than the other, but clearly one is better supported by the empirical and mathematical as opposed to the consensus and the postulation.
What's actually happening here is that you want to be able to "prove" your opinions on social issues in the same way that a chemist can prove how much of a compound can be produced before running out of a limiting reactant. And that is NEVER going to happen. Sorry, but this social stuff is always going to be wishy washy compared to hard science.
