Why is abortion such an issue in the USA?

The problem with the abortion debate is that it always turns into a debate about the morality of abortions, rarely about the effects of banning it. Republicans seem to know that banning guns won't stop people from getting guns, but somehow think that banning abortions would stop people from getting abortions. People would just stop getting them legally.

the biggest reason for abortion is financial so it's not a stretch

well considering i'm a man i don't have the guilt of an abortion weighing on my conscious so i don't know what you're even talking about. but financial reasons are the biggest stated reason for having an abortion whether you want to accept it or not.

I'm pro-choice, but men can certainly be affected by abortion, albeit in dif ways than women. After all, if you get a woman pregnant and fully intend to help care for the child, it could hit a man hard emotionally if that child is aborted. Also, don't forget about the stress that a pregnancy places on both parties, primarily of long-terms goals, plans, etc. being blown up. It's something that each gender has to consider during a pregnancy, as if the woman does have the child she has legal recourse to seek monetary support from the man.
