Why is abortion such an issue in the USA?

I'm not really interested in debating that either. It's obviously alive and personhood is a completely arbitrary designation that doesn't really mean anything, or rather it means whatever one wants it to. You say it is much better but why? No one in history has ever been fully prepared for parenthood for their first child, you have to learn how by doing it.

if it's a matter of resources or reducing the population liquidating adults is far more effective, plus it prevents multiple pregnancies, not just one.

Also, whyis the "legality" of abortion even an issue considering that there is supposed to be doctor/patient confidentiality? How would the state even know? That's only one of the big problems that are as the state gets involved in what are actually private matters between private individuals.

IMHO there should be no laws regarding abortion or other medical care, nor should any sort of assistance program be necessary or even exist.

It's mostly due to misinformation about the bible. People have been told that the Bible is against abortion, and they believe it because they have never actually read the bible. If they did, they would find out that the bible is not against abortion.

In addition to that, you have the need for the GOP to win votes. Their financial policies are against the interests of most of their voters, so they need something else to keep those voters, and they have chosen social issues like abortion to achieve that goal.
