The thing is that football is specialized. Wide receivers are almost always very fit. But fitness takes a backseat to strength and bulk for linemen who need to exert a ton of power for a couple seconds only and rarely have any reason to run more than 2 or 3 yards per play.

lol cute. Meanwhile the training regime for hockey is about three to five thousand times tougher.
