Of course you gave them a free pass. Why else would you start a thread condemning the Israeli response whilst not even mentioning what happened to garner that response. I had to bring up the fact that Hamas fired 100 rockets into Israel, as it was left out of your OP. I wonder why...probably because that fact ruins your whole "reasonable response" argument. The problem is you only criticize Israel. You even made a thread here to criticize them, leaving out a very convenient fact in the process. When you single out one side and leave out facts harmful to your position, what am I left with?
