my vacation experiences as a child:
trips to see family almost exclusively but outside of that
we moved a lot and ive been to all the states (at least driving in them) at least once
at the age of 10 i was on the last voyage of the USS Missouri from hawaii (which i saw for a day) to long beach. got to fire machine guns and grenade launchers.
at the age of 12 i was on the last voyage of the USS Lockwood from san fran (again, a day) to long beach. blew up more shit.
at the age of 14 we went on a family camping trip from buffalo ny to gettysburg
at the age of 15 we went on a family camping trip from newport ri up to maine
at the age of 16 we went on a trip in the winter to vermont
i was in boy scouts did a bunch of camping, went to a lot of civil war sites like antietam
at the age of 17 we did a roundabout trip of going from indianapolis to boston to ri to to dc to jacksonville fl
then i went to college
after college ive done a series of trips up north camping, gone to wilmington nc, denver, nyc... ive seen a lot of this country but i've barely seen anything
none of these trips were especially expensive, outside of my plane ticket to hawaii i think (i flew alone, came back with my dad)
no i didn't go to europe. oh well? i mean, i could do european vacations, but i feel like i'd want to stay a week in each place i visited atleast. it would take me a long time to see shit and i don't have the resources to do that right now
note i didn't do very many vacations when i was young because my dad didn't make much money. we lived in navy housing.
