Yeah, the issue is that I think the rest of what he did was enough to deserve a prison sentence. Probably five years depending on how much he improves psychologically.
Of course if we are just going to throw these people in prison and provide no treatment, I'd be opposed to prison sentences. It all depends on how the law was setup and executed. For the vast majority of stalkers (I'm guessing 90%+), no jail time is needed.
