look I was pointing out that our own cultural and legal system largely grew out of cultures and legal-systems that didn't play the whole "if I rape her I have to pay her father/older-brother" game. Western Europe was considerably more "eye for an eye" than that. The Romans overthrew a King over rape. The Britons revolted against the Romans over rape. The Peasant's Revolt in England was caused in large part due to rape. Fear of rape in particular helped create strong central monarchies and legal systems.

yeah, but that did not just spring into existence fully formed. It came from somewhere, if you read some of the material I linked you can see how it related to the rape of Lucretia and myths such as "The rape of the Sabine women" are quite literal descriptions of earlier customs

The rape of Boudicca wasn't really a good example of an ongoing cultural dialogue as it was a singular event, being the reaction to the result of an injustice visited upon a conquered people by their conquerors
