Let's say that it's determined that the "basic income" is $20k/year. Why pays for that extra governmental outpouring of money? Taxpayers, I assume. So, taxes go up on those who pay taxes. And, because not everyone pays, those who pay taxes will get a >$20k/year tax increase. Then, they demand to be paid more by their bosses. Their bosses have to raise prices to generate more income to pay the employees. So, prices rise on goods. Now, that $20k no longer provides "basic" anything. And, that $20k becomes $30k. And the cycle begins again.
Am I missing a step in my logic where people will truly have an extra $20k laying around that no one has to pay for?
