Because correct diagnosis and acceptance can't coexist, right?
The best thing for people with depression is to convince them there's nothing wrong with them and that the way they feel is natural and in some cases beneficial. I'm sure that total conflict of ideas won't rip them up anymore than they already are or perpetuate the idea that depression isn't a serious thing and people should just "be happy"

the idea that mental "disorders" are diseases that can be cured when the right medicine is administered is not the whole story.
we have drugs that block the symptoms of neurosis and psychosis in a primitive way but we don't in anyway address the cause, probably because we can't
