i feel like it would be an excellent job for the UN. they may use terrorism as a tactic, but their goal isn't the destruction of the west, it is the continued expansion of the caliphate. this of course is an issue when it involves destroying unbelievers or whatever, so it's a perfect thing for the un to handle. it's scope is limited to an area and they can act as peacekeepers and maybe even offensively

There is outrage, but what is lacking is controversy. You aren't going to find many people taking the side of ISIS whereas you can talk about Israel/Palestine and you'll have some people divided on the matter. There's not nearly as much to discuss on this topic.

What is happening there currently is horrid. Truly the shit nightmares are made of. I'm glad the US is getting involved, even though I generally hate that we get involved in foreign affairs. IMHO it was the right thing to do. We should keep supporting Iraq and hopefully learn from past mistakes when making new policies going forward.

I'd be perfectly OK with the US giving the refugees asylum, though I don't know how many would do that.
