NZ participates as a member of ISAF (with 41 other nations) of their own volition and under a NATO command structure. NZDF didn't have to contribute their 150-odd man force if they didn't feel the urge. I'm not diminishing their relative contributions to the coalition, but lets keep things in perspective, rather than feeling sorry for ourselves for doing what we damn well didn't have to do.
Afghanistan was a percieved matter of global security, and that is why the world has thrown down over there. Not because the State Department has a really great smile.
I realize its fashionable to blame us for...pretty much anything and everything...but this one is really over the top. If you don't want to be in ISAF...don't be.
