Any way Nico. sure principles great. However you can't ignore:
1) They did result in the violation of a treaty obligation. Little point saying 'oh yeah USN you can use our ports' if you then turn around and say, popular mandate or not 'well only the non-nuclear equipped ones' when that's essentially taking most of the strategically important stuff off the table (all the Nimitz class are nuclear powered). So in a war situation that equates to turning away any of the carrier strike forces and most of the submariner fleet.
2) Again, why? this isunt sim city 3000 nor are we talking about Russian ships built on the cheap quickly.
It's a pretty massive treaty violation in a defensive and operational alliance treaty, and it completely pulls the teeth out of it. The state department had all right to be mad as hell.
