You imagine folks like ISIS extremists can be bought off with an ipad?

I really shouldn't be surprised but I am a little surprised at the stupidity of this act by ISIS. They're barbaric animals, which means they're pretty stupid.

But they were winning in Syria, and the world opinion was firmly against Assad,so they had that going for them..And then in Iraq they're winning, and even in the US most people, including Obama it seems, were willing to let Iraq stand or fall on their own.. We wanted to stay out of it..

But then ISIS beheads a journalist no one ever heard of, they film it, brag about it, which puts the spotlight, and our bombs and drones right on them.. ISIS was flying under the RADAR, now they have a huge bulls-eye on their back, and they are now in a battle they can not win..

It was a really, really stupid move on their part.. They're saying let's pull the tigers tail and fight a battle we can't win. Idiots.

Major powers can't "Win" against petty little groups who won't surrender. We could kill 90% of them, totally remove them Iraq, and wash our hands and go home.

But if that remaining 10% are still standing around throwing rocks somewhere, as far as their concerned, they defeated the US, and as far as the world is concerned, the US has been humiliated. The condition for victory for them is the barest whisper of survival. The condition of victory for us is perfection.

With the deck thus stacked, why should we bother to play?

If ISIS is to be militarily removed, it needs to be an international effort, and not just a token one. I want real combat troops from different countries on the front lines, as opposed to sitting in the rear in "Support" roles to whatever the US is doing. More than anything what I want are Iraqis defending their own country.

When I said ISIS can't 'win' now I mean they won't overthrown Syria or Iraq now. Where 2 months ago it was a very good possibility.

You can't conquer and hold ground with just air power, so yeah short of occupying and hunting them down our air strikes won't completely defeat them.. BUT because we have total control of the air, ISIS movement on the ground is going to be severely limited. So they can't achieve their goal of toppling a country and setting up an Islamic state either.

More stupidity on their part like beheading more innocents and there just might be enough outrage on the international stage to hunt them down. I don't know though, 10-11 years of war in Iraq and Afghanistan has made us, and other countries war wary.
