Israel disagrees with you spider. They go to great lengths to try to justify their actions ad not violation of international law.

So how does that play into proportionality? How does that somehow incriminate the rules themselves?
Because when some dude decides to murder his wife, I don't declare laws against murder to be a failure, nor do I say it would be better if we could just lynch the murderer like we could in the good ol' days.

Sure but they recognize it's important to not be perceived as such. And I'm 100% sure they restrain themselves a bit to avoid being tooooo flagrant in their violations. For example, as you pointed out, Gaza is still standing.
