Where were you on 9/11/2001?

I was still working 3p-12am at the time so I was sound asleep when my boss called my cell phone and told me that we were under attack. The fog hadn't cleared and so I'm just like "Dude, what are you talking about? Who is attacking? And who's under attack?" He told me the US was under attack and to turn the TV on. I remember asking what station and he said any station. The first thing I saw was the 2nd plane hitting the tower. It was a replay as it had happened a few minutes prior and the newscasters were still trying to take in what they had just seen.

Was told that we were going to be open for work but that security was going to be extra tight and to make sure to wear my badge visibly on the way to work. The loop (635 in Dallas) was the emptiest I ever saw it that day. It was just so eerily quiet everywhere. People at work were afraid that we were going to be a target, a fear I didn't share, but I understood the fear. Everyone was in tears or in shock at the call center.

We were receiving calls from up in the NE about internet not working and it had been said that some of the major trunks we used were under the WTC and was completely inaccessible so there was nothing we could do. Most people that called in understood but I'll never forget the call one of my coworkers got - it was from another New Yorker and he was pissed that his internet wasn't working. He explained the situation to the customer but the guy said something to the effect of not caring about towers and a bunch of dead assholes - he just wanted working internet. And he was promptly hung up on.

Asleep. Then watching TV at home then watching TV all day at school.

I'd like to make one thing clear. I'm in Midtown now. It's hustling and bustling. Commerce, tourists, business, socialization, people smiling, people serious, people sad, happy, in love, hearbroken - living their lives.

Osama Bin Laden is rotting somewhere at the bottom of the ocean.

f**k you very much pal. We win and will keep winning. You can't do shit to us and you aren't shit.

I skipped the bus intentionally that morning so I could stay home from school in 7th grade. I turned on the tv and the news was on showing what was happening. I saw the live footage of the second plane hit, but quite frankly didnt really understand the magnitude of what was going on since I was young. A neighbor drove me to school and she was crying the whole time telling me we were attacked, awkward drive honestly. I remember a ton of kids were being taken out of class by their parents, and I'm pretty sure only a handful of us were still there. I guess our parents didnt care that much or think it was necessary. Anyways, I actually never saw the towers collapse until like a week later on tv at a friends house. I had thought the whole time they were just crashed into and never saw the news until that day.

in my freshsman symposium class. goddamn 8 am classes... people started talking about it, the TA left because her dad worked in one of them... then we left. when i got to a television the towers were both burning and i then saw them fall.

i went to new york this last spring. i stayed at the milenium hilton overlooking the site. looking down at it you think about it, but then once you're there, once you're at the memorial... because i witnessed 9/11, as did most of the world, it was a profound moment. and because of this the memorial is extremely touching and profound. they put giant white roses in the names of people on their birthdays

I was on my way to bring my wife to a doctor's appointment. Listening to Walton & Johnson in the car, and they said that a plane had it the WTC. We got to the doc office, but there was no TV. I left her waiting in the waiting room while I went downstairs to find a TV. Found one in a dialysis waiting room. Saw the 2nd plane hit, and called my wife to tell her where I was and what was going on. I watched the entire thing in that waiting room with some older people and (eventually) my wife.

She works in the tallest building in New Orleans, on the top floor. I refused to let her go into work, not knowing if all tall buildings were targets, or what. I worked at a hotel, and we spent the whole day cancelling reservations and making new ones for people who were stuck.

One of our bellmen, whose parents lived in NY, offered a ride to a guest who also lived in NY, and they road tripped it all the way back to NY that very day.

in 6th grade walking to school i heard someone yell to their husband outside that a plane had hit the world trade center.

i had no idea what the WTC was but i was excited for having something to talk about for my current events presentation that i hadn't prepared for. (you could say god was looking out for me that day). my teacher's daughter was in NYC and she started panicking and freaking out and shit but no one at my school would talk about it. i think we got out early and once i got home i watched the news with my parents and realized what was going on and was kind of scared since it was the first national "oh shit" moment i'd been through.

World religions class. We were literally supposed to talk about extremism that day, so I figured what I was watching was an old video clip. Then I noticed the time stamp and saw the towers fall, and I noticed my teacher was white as hell, no color in his skin at all, rare for a kindly alcoholic. Basically spent the day in shock, as did everyone else. Classes were canceled but we didn't go home, everyone just wandered around and talked about it.

Crazy day. God bless the victims and their families.
