That's just it. They don't have a problem with women working, they just have a problem with women moving into male dominated professions, presumably where earnings can grant them greater independence.

The problem with Western families isn't independence of women through work. It's the established prejudice against fathers and independent men. Alimony, child support, favorability towards women in criminal aspects, more public support for women, education discriminating against boys, etc.

because the prestige of the job decides whether or not it matters that women are being discouraged from doing it.
