It's like you purposefully take a point and then run away from it. You have to consider both good and evil actions when assessing or comparing two groups.

I wager that the US has helped far more people than it has killed, that it has saved more lives than it has taken. Look at the eradication of disease. Look at how your medical technology has improved the lives of billions. How even when you are selfish bastards you've managed to pull billions out of starvation.

Get some perspective. You have to be literally... Ergh... to compare the US with ISIS. Not just because they are completely different in terms of size, ideology, longevity and capabilities. But also because it ignores the simply tremendous amount of good the US has done in it's history.

Iraq is only one conflict the US has been involved in

in Vietnam we killed an even greater proportion of the population and that conflict was due to outright fabrication on the part of the US army

not to mention our history of the genocide of indigenous peoples, which is ongoing to this day in the conflict between US corporation Freeport McMoran/Indonesian army and the ingenuous inhabitants in West Papua.

I ask you again:
how come being "good" is killing way more innocent people than being "evil" is?

there is no adequate explanation that could possibly suffice and maintain the illusion of "good", which is why you avoid the question.

the point is that ISIS is definitely bad, but in terms of civilian deaths in Iraq the US is at least 90 times worse, objectively speaking. why should the US be considered good and ISIS considered bad? I would say ISIS is bad, the US is worse.

Of course it answers your question. What the US has done in Iraq is absolutely criminal. Every President in the past quarter century has announced the decision to bomb them, and the US is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians. In terms of what they have done to Iraq, the US is certainly worse, in terms of violent deaths.

That said, you must also factor in the good things that the US has done that Iraq, and the rest of the world, have benefited from hugely. Vaccinations, the eradication of disease, advances in food technology, the hundreds of billions of dollars given every year in charitable donations... It all adds up to billions of lives saved over the years. As I said, you have to weigh the bad with the good.

A better question: if ISIS had the capabilities of the US, do you think they'd do more or less total harm?
