other disadvantages include:
they have alienated most of the muslim population and their policies are extremely unpopular in all majority muslim nations. both the shia and the sunnis hate them and they will never gain a foothold in the respective strongholds of these groups.
they don't have enough troops to take major cities or the oilfields in southern iraq and kurdistan high end estimates of their troop strength are about 50K which is less than either the Iraqi military or the peshmerga
and while they have huge financial resources in terms of being a militant group 1 billion dollars isn't enough to last long in the context of being a national government
so while they are a pretty damn good militant group they don't have snowballs chance in hell of holding on to any of their gains as a national gov.
