I don't care that Christians invented the concept. Just like I don't look to three hundred year old astronomy books if I want to learn about the stars. That is why we have real scientists publishing peer reviewed research using an intellectual framework far superior to what came before it.

That is my point: there are far, far more logical foundations for rights than "God made us special." Why would you deliberately reject them in favor of obsolete knowledge?

Of course I understand the difference. One is total gibberish based upon some silly sense of divinity, and the world's most arrogant embodiment of self-entitlement, the other is codified into law and enforced by people, using an established democratic process. One is delusion, one is real.

I think ex and I both feel that natural rights don't really exist. Rights are a social construct. If they weren't I'd be much less certain of my stance that other species shouldn't get them.

So now the basis of rights is intellectual capacity, whereas before it was from God, nature, species or the social-political system. Can you decide and get back to me when you have?
