I think the problem with the NRA is something we've seen a lot of lately: they've been hijacked by the loudest, shrillest and most unreasonable among their ranks.
Now even the very moderate proposals to regulate are "THE FIRST STEP BY THE FASCISTS TO TAKE ALL OUR RIGHTS AWAY!!!"
I have no interest in owning a gun but I don't want to outlaw them for law abiding citizens who want one. But then I see these NRA nuts and I'm like "THESE are the guys whose rights to possess a deadly weapon I'm in favor protecting...errrm"
