1. Will you show me some proof that rationality, consciousness and al the rest of it are necessary to be a person?
2.Will you show me some sources to back up your claims that newborn babies are not people?
Why is it inconsistent for personhood to begin at birth? Inconsistent with what? Why do you say it's specious?
Actually, as a human must be born alive to become a person, a baby born with only a brain stem would never be a person as it would be stillborn, or more probably miscarried.
3. It's not necessary for you to go over it again. It's enough that you've conceded I'm right.
Maybe you should take the debate over when personhood should begin to the philosophy forum? I'm sure you can see it doesn't belong here.
4. All people with disabilities are persons. I feel quite taken aback you believe some aren't.
5. The plug is pulled on those people because they have been declared brain dead.
6. I can't see why citing the law is a fallacy. It's the whole crux of this argument, surely?
7. Bloke A is any man. Let's him Stan. Bloke B is someone with your beliefs. I'll call him Bill.
Stan believes Bill is irrational and therefore is not a person. Stan can believe that if he wants. Despite what some people claim, there is no such body of people as the thought police.
Stan can go about his business quite freely as long as he doesn't act on his beliefs by harming Bill in some way.
