Expect to be productive, expect little or no prosperity from it. We have that , its called the "working poor". Who says slavery is dead? It just morphed, debt is the new master. I have already said it, but again won't hurt anything. We celebrate gluttony and greed. We say we don't but we do.

Its exactly what Saz said. Not to mention, we can't take revenues from oil since we put those towards highways and roads. There is no cheap viable alternative for clean energy for another 40 years at least. Fusion reactors or nuclear reactors, green energy, electric cars, solar, wind, etc all will take alot of investment and time to pay off what oil does today.

Right now, the Saudis are literally declaring war on our oil industry for their own protection. And we are taking the opportunity to discuss other usless issues. We need more talk and focus on our ability to stop going overseas for oil and having to fight in middle eastern countries every few years to protect Saudi Arabia.

My guess is electric will eventually replace oil for a lot of things. General transportation being just one, but a rather big one. However, its not going to happen over night. Major change happening quickly is usually a change for the worse. As for the root of all evil, that = gluttony and greed.
