Finally some good news: Obama is for Net Neutrality

I'm a big believer in free speech, where every can voice their opinion, and net neutrality is by far the most important path towards that goal. I firmly believe that all the other forms of communication are becoming obsolete, as the internet starts to take over. I haven't owned a tv in years, I don't buy printed newspapers anymore, and I use Skype for most of my calls. So when we talk about the freedom of the internet, we are really talking about communication as a whole.
That's why it's great news that today the president came out in favor of net neutrality:

Net neutrality is basically the 14th amendment for the internet, in that it requires everyone to be treated equally, end of story.

Unfortunately Obama cannot make this policy decision himself, it's up to the FCC, which has been moving in the opposite direction for a while now. But it is important for the president to clearly voice his support for this crucial issue, because it will put pressure on the FCC to do the right thing.

Not to mention Obama appointed Tom Wheeler as the FCC Chairman. "I'm sure a Cable lobbyist will be completely fair and impartial...."

I hope he can influence the push for Net Neutrality but I doubt it'll happen.

What could be so horrific about the internet that needs the government to come in and f**k it up?

The principal that all internet providers should enable all access to applications , and content no.matter the source. Plus I'm sure there's something in there about not charging for extra banwith, but I'm kinda foggy on that part.
