Apologizing for mistakes, owning up to them, showing ambivalence, scrutinizing actions. Those are things displaying real strength, keeping it under the rug just indicates one is too afraid of what might happen when they get out. Consequently I think the shaming from other offenders such as Russia and China has to be endured, all the while knowing these countries would not do the same thing.
The praise ends here though. There is still no real accountability for everyone involved. Politicians and military involved get a tabula rasa on their actions. If anything it is to be hoped that the public eye will be less apathetic the next time around.
