Well I guess their work defined them; my goal is to get out of the rat race as soon as possible. Before I had my kid I would actually work for 6 months, close the firm and then go on holiday for 6 months. I purchased almost 2 acres of beachfront a few months ago (in my son's name) in cash and now just saving up for the house which I estimate will be 2 years. Once that thing is built and Ive got my nest egg sorted I can retire by age 42- that will give me plenty of time to get drunk, write books and live like Buffet and Hemingway.

some people live to work, others work to live, to each their own
also...if one is interested there's plenty of chances to do work abroad, make quite a bit of money, and maintain permanent residency is a nice country provided one is good enough at their work to do so

I have the world's most boring job. I do quality system audits in laboratories inside shoe factories. Basically if you buy a decent brand name shoe and it falls apart.... it's probably my fault.
