Isn't it usually if it's a competing forum? I think if you just had a signature block with a link to "my website" and you weren't actively spamming it or something you could probably get away with it.

Also, Saz was right to point out that focusing on comment sections on news sites is a good idea. I mean 99% of people who join will be fake or trash, but that's to be expected no matter what we do. So that is a good prong to our strategy.
