Alright fellow losers, gather round. There were some great playoff games over the weekend, but it all just makes me sick cause my Eagles weren't there to participate. Let's look ahead to free agency and the draft.
Eagles have some serious need at the cornerback position. Bradley Fletcher cannot come back. I don't even think he's as bad as he gets portrayed to be, but he's not very good and his presence on the team has become such a harping point with the fans and the media that I think he's basically a distraction out on the field. His contract is going to expire in a couple weeks and the only way they can re-sign him is as a backup for backup money and first they need to identify a new starter to take his place.
On the other side, we have Cary Williams, who also sucks, and would be owed 8 million next year. We can free up 6.5 million in cap space by cutting him. Goodbye Cary.
So we need at least one solid CB in free agency, then hoping we can either draft a guy who can start as a rookie or that Jaylen Watkins is ready to go this year. We could also use an additional safety to push or replace Nate Allen, but CB's have to be the priority for the secondary.
Of course every Eagles fan wants to do some grand trade for Mariota but even if the Bucs go for Winston, there's still the Titans right behind them in desperate need of a QB. Hard to imagine either of those teams giving us their picks or both of them passing on Mariota, to say nothing of all the other teams picking 3rd-19th who may want him.
