kinda an aside...does anyone think we'll actually be able to pass any policies and carry out said policies in a way that will actually reduce global warming?

Absolutely. If gov't weren't owned by the polluters and we did have so many gullible saps in the electorate who decided to make this a political jihad/suicide pact.
