you can own only up to 12 weapons in france, plus need special permits for semi automatics with even a small amount of ammo capacity, but, you still can own a gun. i don't think that's a fair assessment, jimmy

Wow - take a look at that site. Specifically, click on "Gun Numbers". It says the "Rate of Registered Firearms is 4.4 per 100 people." But, then it also says that "The estimated rate of private gun ownership (both licit and illicit) in France is 31.21 firearms per 100 people."
In essence, only 4% of the guns are owned legally, while 27% are owned illegally.
So, how do I interpret this? That the more restrictive your gun laws are, the higher percentage of gun owners will illegally own guns.
Who knew that criminals didn't obey the law???
