I actually don't think anything tangible will come out of the small level talks we are having. I'm personally ok with talking to Iran, but we need them to do what we/international community want, not what they want. Therefore, nothing will come out of it because..... its Iran. If we do something stupid like provide nuclear codes, military secrets or seek to renew XYZ then that will become 10x worst than this damn letter.

Agreed. Yeah, the Mullahs suck but the people don't hate us (unlike in so many Sunni countries) and if I'm going to place bets on the long-term prospects of countries in the region, who are you gonna pick? Syria? Yemen?
Also remember the Iraq thing, and the influence they do have/could have there.
