Why carry? I carry because I believe in being prepared. How many people have fire extinguishers in their homes? If you don't you really should buy a few. I've got over a dozen fire extinguishers in my home. It's not because I think there is going to be a fire or I want there to be a fire. I know that no matter how fast my local fire department's response time is, they'll be there in minutes when seconds count. The firearm is a tool. Just like a fire extinguisher or a jack for your car. It's a tool that you may have to use one day but you hope that you never will.

I'd prefer to avoid the risk of accidental discharge, a stolen weapon, etc. in addition to the initial purchase price and ammunition supply.

Well that and handguns are nearly impossible to legally carry around here, and the crime rate is virtually nonexistent. It would be a foolish waste of resources for me to carry.

i have an aluminum bat and a 6 inch knife in my room. i'm pretty much prepared for any 15 year old kids that want to break in and steal my TV. no need to kill them and then make my house haunted.

I keep a giant can of non-lethal Insta-Net spray developed by DARPA to foil any home invaders.

After I have them trapped in the spray web, I then drag their still breathing bodies to my basement and deposit them in a old well filled with lime.
