So rather than continue this, because frankly my embarrassment levels are way too high... What do you guys think is really going on in the minds of people who adopt this sort of irrational thinking?
Is it a genuine belief? Or is it a defense mechanism acting up, outside the control of that person? Because many of the people who adopt such thinking are perfectly capable of rational thought, and appear to exercise it regularly elsewhere... And yet when issues of civil rights come up, particularly with homosexuals, it goes right out the window.
I suspect it's truly irrational, in that it doesn't have a logical or even mindful basis, but is instead a feeling with a shitty rationalization laid on top.
