I was there in August and it was really bad, worst humidity I've ever experienced. It's a bit better the higher you go but down by the water with no breeze it's like the NYC subway on a summer day. Can't say what it would be for May, probably slightly better but not much. Def might want to rethink if you hate humidity because you will sweat going anywhere in the city during the warm months.

Don't be a kitty go to HK in May. The weather is actually not that bad then and you might get great weather. As was mention by saz, August is a no go. I've been then many times and the humidity slaps you in the face when you walk out of the terminal on arrival. You know it's coming because the glass is fogged. May is usually pretty good, although you could get a hot stretch. Multiple showers are a must in Asian summers.
