It's not currency. And you could a pendant or something instead of a chip. There will be all kinds of implants and enhancements so I doubt people will be freaked out by having an implant.
You every move is tracked already anyway, so having an implant isn't going to make any difference as far as that is concerned. Probably law enforcement" as we currently understand it will be gone as we move on to a social order that isn't obsessed with realizing a highly idealized of vision of what the human animal should be. We, as a society, are literally trying to use operant conditioning and other behavior modification techniques to create the ultimate consumption based society, which requires a population that has literally been dehumanized.
That is what is really f**k up with our society, that is what needs to be stopped.
